For many companies, buying castings and machined components is a complicated process. We make it easier by consistently delivering superior products, communication and expertise – so you get exactly what you need, with the quality and timing you expect. Achieving this requires a commitment to consistent and improving processes throughout our business.
Whenever possible, we guide our customers through the Advanced Product Quality Planning process as a first step in creating predictable production processes that meet the specifications required. This – coupled with thorough FMEAs, control plans, and documented production processes – ensures first-time success and creates a basis for ongoing process improvements.
We’ve adopted the PPAP as a basis for our sampling process that includes pattern layouts before the first casting is produced. We include layouts on every sample casting and include ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle, dye penetrant, and radiography when required.
The true measurement of quality is consistency: consistent processes, constant improvement, and most important, consistently satisfied customers.
Manufacturing pressure vessels that operate safely in end-use applications is a big responsibility. For Calco to produce ASME ductile iron pressure vessels, structural integrity throughout the casting, which requires consistent processes and adhering to the strict procedural requirements, is paramount. Producing ASME ductile iron pressure vessels is a unique capability and one that is only shared with a few iron foundries in North America.
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, which specifies requirements for the design, manufacture, inspection and testing of pressure vessels, is the most recognized construction code. ASME is known globally and sets the standard for both the quality of products and the quality of manufacturers adhering to its procedures.
We’re registered with the National Board for our production of ASME pressure vessels.

Calco is certified by The American Bureau of Shipping to produce components complying with the latest marine standards and requirements. The American Bureau of Shipping provides direction for manufacturing primarily through the development and verification of standards for the design, construction and operational maintenance of marine-related facilities.
ABS provides for the classification of services through the development of standards called ABS Rules. When producing ABS components, we follow these rules, which form the basis for assessing the construction and the integrity of new components. The ABS certification makes it possible for Calco to provide products to equipment manufacturers that are used in marine, shipping, oil and gas and countless other industries.
ABS serves as another example of Calco’s commitment to providing the processes, procedures and production methods required to meet the needs of the markets we serve.
